ABOUT US

Reaction Dance Force (RDF) was established in 2009 by director, Chrissy (Fortuna) Matway.

​

Chrissy is originally from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan.   After a childhood of theatre and dance, Chrissy was a dance teacher for 13 years and the coach of three successful All-Star dance teams. A head instructor, adjudicator and choreographer for the National Dance Alliance (NDA), Ms. Fortuna spent over a decade traveling the country, earning elite awards such as Top Head Instructor and Excellence in Leadership. She spent four years as the NDA State Director for the East coast and directed performances at the Orange Bowl, Hula Bowl and several other special events.

Chrissy spent several years in Los Angeles, California, where she taught acting and modeling classes and continued to work as a choreographer in the industry.  Upon returning to Detroit, Chrissy attained Pilates certifications in both contemporary and classical methods. This inspired her to create R-Barre -  a dancer's workout, combining fitness and dance.  Chrissy has choreographed for The North American International Auto Show, Chevy, Make-A-Wish Foundation, MGM Grand Detroit Casino, International Performing Arts Academy, Leige Entertainment and for many other award-winning dance teams, studios, and individuals from coast to coast.

Because of her experience and reputation, Chrissy has been asked to speak at many conventions and leadership seminars.

“My goal for embarking on this journey, with Reaction Dance Force, is to provide a positive environment for not just dancers to excel, but for teachers and choreographers as well. It’s important to learn healthy competition and sportsmanship and to realize that although we may not always 'win,' we can be rewarded for our hard work and perseverance, and above all else…dedication to dance.”
